On Friday, April 15th, Byron and Dexter Peart, co-founders of WANT Les Essentiels, were named Accessory Designer of the Year at the Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards (CAFA) gala at the Fairmont Royal York in downtown Toronto. Hosted by Kim Cattrall, Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau, along with supermodels Karlie Kloss and Coco Rocha attended the event.
“We’ve had a dream to build a brand together since we were kids and we’re so proud that we’ve made it happen. There have been ups and there have been downs so it’s extremely rewarding, and a huge honor for us, to be recognized by CAFA for the work that we’ve done.” said Byron and Dexter Peart.
The CAFA Jury, comprised of 35 influential members that include Jeanne Beker, Cameron Williamson, Claude Laframboise, Bernadette Mora and Noreen Flanagan, among others, selected the winner who has made the most significant creative impact on the Canadian fashion industry. Also nominated in the category were esteemed designers Alan Anderson, Dean Davidson, and Jenny Bird.
